UCC honor society helps with clothing drive

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of Umpqua Community College is working with UCAN for a winter clothing drive. The drive will benefit the third annual A Day of Sharing that will be on Dec. 4.

A Day of Sharing is an annual event sponsored by the Douglas County Housing & Homeless Coalition, which provides adult winter supplies and information on services for those members of the community who are living in poverty, homeless or both.

Phi Theta Kappa is helping to coordinate the event on campus. Umpqua Community College will serve as a drop-off location for the UCAN AmeriCorps*VISTA Clothing Drive.

The drop-off location is in the Campus Center near the information desk. Donations should be new or gently used and laundered items for adult men and women. Preferred items are heavy socks, winter coats, winter hats, winter gloves, scarves, dark colored ponchos and long underwear.

Questions can be directed to Aubrey at UCAN 541-492-3520 or Dee Winn on the UCC campus.

The Mainstream is a student publication of Umpqua Community College.
