3rd Annual UCC Dodge Ball Tournament Coming Soon

The annual UCC Dodgeball tournament will take place on Feb. 13, 2010 in the gym. The tournament will be hosted by the ASUCC student government with proceeds benefiting the March of Dimes, an organization dedicated to preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March of Dimes is known for its research and community services.

The entry fee of $60 for each team must be paid no later than Feb. 12, 2010. A team must consist of 10 members 14 or older.

Concessions will be available during the event.

Nathaniel Alexander, a 14-year-old junior high student from Sutherlin, is working on getting enough players on his team.

“It [dodgeball] sounds like a lot of fun. We don’t ever get to play dodgeball at my school so I’m really excited about playing. I think it’s really cool that they are letting people play even if they don’t go to UCC,” Alexander said.

Hannah Hartman, ASUCC vice president, participated in last yea’s tournament. “It was an all day event. We had a lot of fun. I remember working graveyard the night before and going straight there after work with no sleep. It was horrifying, but I discovered that I was actually quite good at it.”
