Check in with the librarian

Did you know that you can reach many library sources, including academic journals and opinion essays, on controversial issues from off-campus?

Yes, it’s true: most of the UCC library databases offer options for logging in from off campus.

These subscription databases require students to input library user names and passwords to access these resources online when not at the college.

These user names and passwords are different from the personal UCC user names and passwords for Riverhawk Web, so if you haven’t already, stop by the UCC library or call during business hours to obtain the database password list.

You can also find the full list of database user names and passwords for off-campus access on ANGEL if you are taking an online class – just check out the “Resources” tab for the link.

In addition to providing great sources for your research, these databases are set up for use by academic researchers and offer useful features like automatic citations and tools to email and save articles for later use.

If you have questions about access or need research help in general, talk to (or email) a librarian. You can find phone numbers, email addresses and hours, as well as database links, on the UCC Library homepage at http://www.umpqua.edu/library.

The Mainstream is a student publication of Umpqua Community College.
