NaNoWriMo

November is National Novel Writing Month

Every November for the last 13 years, thousands of aspiring novelists have tackled the challenge of writing a novel in only 30 days.  There are no real rules, participants just write 50,000 words (but not the same word 50,000 times in a row) and submit their word count to the NaNoWriMo.org website by midnight of November 30th.  The website can also track your wordsmithing progress, gives you access to special writing resources, pep talks, and forums where you can meet other authors in your area or all over the globe.  As a bonus, any writer who finishes their novel by the end of the month has the option of sending their work to CreateSpace who, without charge, will turn all those words into a physical, printed book.  What are you waiting for?  Join in and start writing!

The Mainstream is a student publication of Umpqua Community College.
