Phi Theta Kappa wants students to commit to complete college

Phi Theta Kappa is coming together for two Commit to Complete events on November 14 and 19th. The Commit to Complete Program is in place to help encourage college students to commit with their education and keep from dropping out.

Phi Theta Kappa will be giving out brochures that will provide students with information on how they can complete their degrees at 2 year colleges on the 14th in the campus center from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. and on the 19th in the library from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M.

On each of these days students will also be urged to sign a banner saying that they are committing to finishing their majors as well as presented the option of signing a clipboard and recording their contact information so that Phi Theta Kappa can follow up. There will also be free pizza offered on the 14th at noon.

Phi Theta Kappa Public Relations Officer and ASUCC President Brenna Martin says that “Our goal is to get 200 signatures on the banner as well as get students contact information so we can follow up in the middle of terms and see if they’re still on track and going to school.”

Phi Theta Kappa will also be offering scholarship workshops and study habit workshops to help students that are considering dropping out, as well as students who are just having issues with school.

Phi Theta Kappa President Melia Van Cleave hopes that “having two days for the event will allow for more student signatures on the banner. Last year we only had one day and got 150 signatures, our goal for this year is 200.”
