“I am proud of myself and my team for making history at Umpqua.”—Karyssa Gomez

“I am proud of myself and my team for making history at Umpqua. Coming home fifth and reaching 30 wins this year is a big accomplishment and turn around for UCC,” player Karyssa Gomez posted in Facebook.

The Riverhawks entered the playoffs ready to contend with the best volleyball players in the west. At the start of the playoffs, the women had a number two ranking in their league; they were rewarded with a fifth place play off finish.

“We were ranked second in our league, and we took fifth which is a big deal. There are more teams at play offs than there are in our league,” said Alexis Ruffing.
