Most wedding couples are looking for a venue that is not only elegant but also truly unique. They want their guests to let out a big “Wow!” when walking into the wedding.
Loft 753, a new event space in Roseburg, Oregon, is being billed as that type of unique event space. It is located in downtown Roseburg at
753 SE Main Street.
During a recent phone interview, event planner and Loft 753 curator Andrew Calvert explained how he got started.
“Don Martinez, the owner of the professional center on the site, had the third floor vacated. He didn’t know what he could do with that. He didn’t know what the possibilities were,” Calvert says. “So, I went down and consulted with him. Don wanted to know how he could fix it up and make it into an event center. We did everything from new lighting to painting the floor, getting tables, chairs, and linens started. It’s an all-inclusive setup when you rent the Loft 753.”
Loft 753, which seats 160 to 225, has a style that is a little bit more universal, a little bit more urban, than what is typical around here in Roseburg, Calvert explains
How did Calvert get the position of Curator?
“I’ve had my own event planning business for 19 years, in town. I take care of all the scheduling, bookings, and tours. Then if they need a planner, décor, flowers, I take care of that,” Calvert says.
 Calvert also owns The Perfect Occasion, a professional full-service event planning company. He provides, according to his website, “all aspects of event planning, from the overall design of the event to exquisite custom floral creations, to coordination of professional vendors such as caterers, photographers, and pastry chefs.”
He has done seven weddings so far this year.
“Being the first year, we are still getting the word out about it. We expect to gain momentum over the next couple of years,” Calvert says.
Event space reservations are 24 hours, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. the next day.
Customers can do food services themselves or bring in a caterer. The Perfect Occasion also has caterers and vendors they recommend. There are no in-house requirements for certain vendors.
Loft 753 boasts elevator access and a private parking lot attached to the building. Overflow can be on the street or anywhere downtown.
There are plans to offer dance nights and public events during the holidays, Calvert said.
Calvert is on site for managing every event to help with every little detail, a plus for clients.
