āOregon is currently in a childcare desert,ā said Shelby Shaw, a Glide special education teacher, former child care board member and daycare owner, in a phone interview.Ā
Lists for open spots at active and licensed child care providers are closing and updating constantly, according to numerous childcare facility sources.Ā The best option for desperate parents to get the mostĀ up-to-date information is by callingĀ 211 orĀ 1-866-698-6155 for information about local childcare resources. Parents can also check theĀ 211 websiteĀ or navigateresources.net website by entering a local zip code then selecting āsearch by categoryā and then clicking on āParenting/Child Careā and the Child Care file.Ā Additionally, UCC students and families near UCC have access toĀ Maple Corner Montessori.
